Jalyn White - Candidate for HUCM Student Council Vice President

Meet the Candidate

Jalyn White

As a dedicated medical student at Howard University College of Medicine, I have consistently demonstrated my commitment to serving our community and advocating for student success.

Currently serving as the Class of 2028 Vice President and STUCO Director of Communications, I have worked tirelessly to keep our community informed and connected through initiatives like The Bison Biweekly newsletter.

My additional experience as the 2026 Residency Fair Packing and Merchandise Committee Chairman and Co-Founder of the DMV Black Excellence in Medicine Mentoring Program has equipped me with the leadership skills and vision needed to serve as your next Student Council Vice President.

A Piece of What Inspires Me to Lead

Raised On Legacy and Education

My commitment to advocacy and education is deeply rooted in my family's legacy. My grandmother, Patricia Godbolt White, was the eldest of the Norfolk 17, a group of courageous students who helped desegregate public schools in Norfolk, VA, much like the Little Rock Nine.

In an act of bravery, she returned to teach Biology for over 4 decades in the very district that once denied her access. Her resilience and unwavering belief in the power of education instilled in me not only the importance of academic excellence, but also the responsibility to speak up, push forward, and create space for others.

That legacy is a core part of my "why"- a foundation that shapes how I lead, serve, and show up in every space I'm in, especially here at HUCM. It is only one piece of what fuels me, but it grounds my commitment to advocating for others and building a community where every student feels heard, supported, and empowered to succeed.

I am ready to carry that purpose forward in serving as your next Student Council Vice President.
